Historical review of GeoGebra

When one looks at, what is possible to do GeoGebra today, so you will be impressed. But perhaps even more, when you look at, how the program has evolved since version 1.0, which was released back in 2001. Here I will make a brief historical review of GeoGebra version 1.0 and find a version 4.0.

Version 1.0

This is the first version, which was released by Markus Hohenwarter. Compared to GeoGebra today, so this was a very sparse version, which had very few tools and options. The bar looked very different from. There was only 2 languages ​​to choose from. It was possible to change the appearance of GeoGebra. It was, however, a program, which was fully in line with some of the other dynamic geometry programs from the time, as fx Geometer, GeoNext, ISOMETER, GeomeTricks, Euklid m.fl.

Version 2.0

A new and improved look was introduced with this new version. The toolbar was changed. Still only 2 languages ​​to choose from. Design description was introduced. At the same time there came some new tools.

Version 3.0

With this version GeoGebra began gradually to resemble the version, as we know from today. There was a choice between 39 different languages. Many new commands and configuration options. Ability to export. Many new tools. A simplified toolbar and making its own tools.

Version 3.2

This small jump from version 3.0 to version 3.2 did not seem large at first glance, but actually spreadsheet introduced with this version. The program was translated to 45 different languages. Animation vha. sliders. Webstart were also introduced. There was no difference in the toolbar, although was in the spreadsheet.

Version 4.0

A huge update for the program came with version 4.0. The program was translated to 50 different languages. GeoGebraTube were also introduced. 2 drawing pads and an improved spreadsheet with associated tools. It was released several versions of this release – both the normal and GeoGebra primary, the latter was intended as a scaled down version of GeoGebra, who to turn to primary schools (inschooling). GeoGebra Prim was however removed again.
